What Gives Marijuana its Purple Color and What Purple Strains Can You Try in PA?

Purple cannabis buds can be striking and beautiful. Some people specifically search for that trait.

There are many factors that may turn a cannabis plant purple. First, there’s temperature. Purple, red, and blue hues may appear in response to drops in temperature, since chlorophyll production takes its natural pause in autumn as the days become colder.

Anthocyanins are phytochemicals in the flavonoid group also responsible for red, purple, or blue pigments and hues found in many plants.

Some strains in the PA Medical Cannabis program have a purple hue. Here is a list of the most purple looking bud in the program.
